Euan Declan Abercrombie

Date of birth: March 14, 1984
Physical description: Standing just shy of six foot, he's never quite grew out of that gangly adolescent stage, though he prefers to call himself 'wiry'. As a first year he was known for his rather...prominent ears. He now lets his hair grow out to hide them.
Parents' Allegiance: The Ministry.
Personal Allegiance: The Ministry.
How do people perceive this character: A pretty nice guy. Tends to be a bit hard on himself though. A bit of a swot. Depends on who you talk to, of course.
Greatest fear: Having to pick his father up from the Ministry holding tanks for public intoxication.
Greatest passion: He's a fan of the Montrose Magpies and enjoys a bit of puzzle, but he's not quite sure yet.
Aspiration: To become an Auror.
Greatest Positive Attribute: He has a general amiable nature. Doesn't try and pick fights with people.
Biggest Fault: He tends to hold himself to too high a standard and try to hard.

Describe the character's personal history (however brief or extensive)

Born in Aberdeen on March 14, 1984, Euan Declan Abercrombie is the only son of Tate and Gail Abercrombie. Gail Abercrombie is a a flighty witch who much preferred the concept of being a mother than you know, actually being one, while Tate was a first class drunk. His parents are still married, though Tate tends to stick close to home outside Aberdeen while Gail wanders around the globe, looking for the next great adventure. The situation works for the two of them.

Euan doesn't remember much about the first few years of his life, not that anyone talks about it much, but from what he can gather, he was left on his own much more than a four year old should. His mother took off and his father fell deeper into the bottle. When he was five, he and his parents moved in with his paternal grandparents, James and Matilda, who took it upon themselves to look after and raise young Euan. James Abercrombie, former player and recently retired coach for the Montrose Magpies, is a demanding, but fair man. Euan constantly tries to work to gain his grandfather's approval and praise. It was a sad day for Euan when he realized he had no aptitude for flying. In fact, you could make comparisons between him and Neville Longbottom. Matilda, on the other hand, is one of those souls who was born to be a mother and grandmother. She never worked outside the home, instead focusing her energies on raising her children and grandchild. Since James retired and Euan went to Hogwarts, Matilda has opened their home as a bed and breakfast.

In 1995, Euan was sorted into Gryffindor. He originally believed the smear campaign against Harry Potter, as he was too young to know better, but by the end of the year he came to his senses like the majority of his peers. Although he would never admit it, Harry Potter has become a sort of hero in his eyes after his first year. Once it became apparent that the Boy Who Lived was going to become an Auror, Euan decided he would try his hand at that. He became a prefect in his fifth year, thanks to his almost obsessive compulsiveness to get everything right. He hates making mistakes and has a tendency to beat himself up over the simplest things. In seven year he was not chosen for Head Boy and even though he denies wanting the accolade, he really did. As a result, he threw himself into his studies seventh year, coming out with Os in Transfiguration, Herbology, and Ancient Runes. He received Es in the rest of his subjects. He's not particularly brilliant, as he tells it, just a hard worker.

His "hard work" paid off and he was admitted into the auror program. At first he wasn't sure if he was cut out for this type of work, but his pride wouldn't let him quit. When he was assigned to his mentor, he wasn't quite sure what to think as she was a department joke just over six months ago, but knows appearances can be deceiving. Either way, he figures he'll be doing a lot of paperwork in the coming months.

Profession: Auror trainee. And sometimes errand boy for the Inn.
